| Hi, I'm Amy.
I'm a compulsive artist in many mediums, but I am currently known for my
polymer clay art. Though I attended art school, I use my environment
and the endless patterns and color combinations as my teacher.
I've been making polymer clay beads for over 13 years and manage to still be
passionate about the medium. It's a constant evolution that challenges
and inspires me to just play. I use scores of techniques and try to
keep my work as original as possible.
STACKER beads
are my so-called claim to fame. In the summer of 1999 I was teaching my pals Kyle and Nicole, who were 7 and 9 at the time, how to
make beads. It was sort of an all-day babysitting/beadmaking party.
We spent a good 5-6 hours nonstop, cranking out beads, feeling so creative,
giving each other ideas. Kyle approached me with a bead shape that is
a predecessor of the Stacker beads you see today. I call them Stacker beads because they stack like coins.
Some people think they look and/or feel like fabric or woven threads. The only tools I use to make them are my hands and a
knife. You can now make them yourself by visiting
this page.
It's free!
In March of 2008 I took
a bead embroidery class at work. New worlds opened up for me.
Now many of my items utilize both my original polymer clay pieces and seed
bead work. My 2 favorite
bead embroiderers are
Shelly Serafini and
The Lone Beader.
In late June 2006, a tv crew
came to my apartment and filmed me in my environment, making crafts for
"That's Clever!" on HGTV. The show aired May 11, 2007, much
to everyone's amusement. My work has been featured in PolymerCAFE
Magazine and Polymer Clay Daily.
I reside in downtown Cincinnati with my 2 cats.
